Welcome to Kitty Rescue Corp!

We are a 501(c)(3) non profit charity animal rescue organization operating in the Pasco County, Florida area. Our goals are:

  • the rescue of lost or abandoned animals (specifically cats) in our community
  • to provide food, shelter and vet care to animals in need until they are adopted
  • the adoption of healthy animals (specifically cats) into loving homes
  • and the prevention of cruelty to animals

Important Announcement! – March 3, 2024

We currently cannot intake any more owner surrender cats into our shelters. We are currently over capacity and need to adopt out some of our cats before we can take in any more. We are starting a partnership with PetSmart and Petco in the coming weeks to place our cats into their stores for adoption which should help us get them adopted out. We can only help with rehoming cats if the owner is able to continue to house them while we try to find them another home.

We are starting a new project to construct an indoor and air-conditioned 750 sq. ft. shelter for more rescue cats. Construction is going to begin within the next few weeks and the time to complete will be based on how quickly we can get the funding the complete the project. If you are able to help contribute to this project, you can donate using the links below. You can also help by sharing our donation links with others that want to help rescue cats and find them loving fur-ever homes.

If you would like to help us you can consider becoming a foster for older cats that are awaiting spay/neuter and adoption or by donating to help us complete our shelter projects. You can also help by sharing our page to your friends and family and asking around to see if anyone is interested in adopting any cats.

Current Fundraising Campaigns:

Help us cover Buster’s medical expenses.

Help us pay for the medical care the RV Kittens received!

Help us achieve our goal of constructing a 750 sq. foot indoor rescue shelter for our kitties!

We are now going through 14 cans of wet food every day to feed the 14 weaned kittens we currently have. Last month, we spent $1,136 on food and liter. Since our adoption fees barely cover the cost of spay/neuter, vaccines, etc, we rely only on donations to pay for food. Last month, we received $357 in cash donations and $653 worth of supplies, but this month we are very short with only $53 in cash donations and $20 worth of supplies. You can see more details about our donations/expenses at kittyrescuecorp.org/stats/ We currently have 15 kittens, 3 mother cats and 4 stray cats on our intake waiting list. We also have 4 kittens that are close to weaning age, which will soon increase our daily wet food usage to 18 cans. We really need your help to continue providing for the cats/kittens in our care and so we can take in more that need help. We have applied for several grants, but will not find out the results until September. Anything helps, even $5 or $10 really does help. And if you feel more comfortable purchasing supplies, you can see our Chewy and Amazon wish lists below. Thank you to everyone who has helped us! We really could not do this without you and our communities' help. Our board members have personally invested $3,300 so far this year into the rescue but that would be over double without your help and support. We have now partnered with Adopt-A-Pet to provide a rehoming service. Owners can list a pet for rehoming on our website (and Adopt-A-Pet's Rehome website) using the link below. Once approved, the animal will then be listed on our website as available for rehoming. Adopt-A-Pet charges owners a fee ($5-$50 depending on pet type and age). We do not get anything directly from this fee, but Adopt-A-Pet does periodically give out grants to rescues who use their rehome service.

If the owner us unable to pay the rehome listing fee, they can reach out to us for a discount code that reduces the fee to $1.

This has been a rough month for us so far. We have had some unexpected medical expenses that have completely drained our medical fund and we are currently $1,066 short for this month's regular expenses. At this time, we are no longer accepting any intakes due to our low funding and limited space. We currently have 16 cats (4 kittens) available for adoption and 18 kittens that will soon be ready and posted for adoption. We currently have 63 cats total in our care. We are going to focus on adopting out the cats we can before we open up for any intakes. If you find a kitten that is less than 2lbs (8 weeks) without a mother cat (or if the kittens are with their mother but very sick), the best thing to do is to contact Pasco County Animal Services at (813)929-1212. If you find kittens with a mother, the best thing to do is to find a safe space (porch, garage or in your yard) for them and let the mom take care of them. You can try to reach out to other rescues but almost all shelters are over capacity right now due to kitten season. If you find a stray cat in your area that needs medical attention, please contact Pasco County Animal Services. If the cat just needs TNR, we can help set the cat up for a TNR event at PAWS (they are twice a month) for free or you can set up

Buster's Memorial Video

We have some sad news. We took Buster to the emergency vet late last night due to labored breathing and low energy. They found fluid around his heart and diagnosed him with heart disease. The prognosis was not good, even if we were able to provide the expensive medical care. Due to not being unable to pursue the medical care and not wanting to see him suffer any longer, Buster was euthanized. Buster will be greatly missed!

Warrior and Buster were inseparable when they were just kittens. We rescued them from outside of an office building in Tampa when they were only a few weeks old. Warrior was unconscious while Buster stayed near and protected his little brother. After taking warrior to the emergency veterinary clinic, it was determined that Warrior had neurological damage and would be blind for the rest of his life. We cared for Warrior for 6 weeks and while we saw slow signs of progress, Warrior ultimately succumbed to his illness and crossed the rainbow bridge. Buster was left alone but became a resident cat of our rescue due to our close relationship with him and the connection we felt due to the shared loss of his brother Warrior. Now, 6 years later, Buster is struggling with his own medical issues. He has a hear murmur, labored breathing, weight loss and low energy. We recently took him to the vet but he needs additional medical care that we cannot provide. We recently drained our vet fund on the kittens that were found underneath an RV. Please consider making a monetary donation to help restore our vet fund so we can provide Buster the medical care he desperately needs and deserves. Happy Adoption Day to Miss Brookie, Professor Puffington & their new mama!!! 🥳🥳🥳 These two came to us a few months back due to being surrendered. Their original mama had gone into a assistant living situation and the son was going to boot them out onto the streets until their sweet neighbor intervened and brought them to us. She is their true hero! She saved those babies from a awful situation. 🙌🏻 Both are now fully up to date on vaccines and were tested and everything came out wonderfully so now this bonded siblings will be living the rest of their best lives with their new mama! We want to wish this family Many happy and healthy years together!!! 🐾🤍
